Asdion, Thai Cinemas In 5m Baht Deal Talks 24-02-2005
24 January 2005 - INTEGRATED solutions provider Asdion Bhd is holding talks with several cinema operators in Thailand for a 5 million baht (100 baht = RM10.10) project. The job involves improving their ticketing reservation and membership management systems. Asdion (Thailand) Co Ltd director Suwat Riewchotisakul said he expects the deal to trigger a snowball effect and generate new contracts for the company in Thailand. "Although the value is only 5 million baht, it is a crucial project as it can bring more deals to us," he said at a media luncheon in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Asdion Thailand is 51 per cent-owned by Asdion International Sdn Bhd which is wholly-owned by Asdion. Suwat also said the company sees great potential for integrated solutions business in Thailand, especially in the hospitality, travel, tourism and cinema industries. The prospect of good returns in Thailand has led to the incorporation of Asdion Thailand. Suwat said Thailand¡¯s gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the next four years is forecast at an average of 6.6 per cent, with the service sector contributing 52.3 per cent to the GDP. Asdion is an integrated solutions provider focusing on the hospitality services, travel and tourism industries, cineplex, membership management and loyalty programmes. Meanwhile, Asdion chief executive officer Yap Tai Tee said the company will launch a new product next month targeted at travel agencies. "We see the trend in integrated solutions increasing, and this will create a lot of opportunities for Asdion. "We will be also be offering rental and leasing services to our customers so that it is more affordable for them," Yap said. The company's share price on Malaysian Exchange of Securities Dealing & Automated Quotation Bhd market of Bursa Malaysia Bhd closed 0.5 sen higher at 84.5 sen each with 395,100 shares traded.
